Common questions about the Airpeak S1
Does the Airpeak S1 include a camera or gimbal?
No. The aircraft, controller, two batteries and charger are included. You add a compatible gimbal (Gremsy T3 for Airpeak or Sony GBL-PX1), a Sony Alpha or FX3 body and an E-mount lens.
Which cameras work with the S1?
Sony lists Alpha 1, Alpha 7S III, Alpha 7R IV, Alpha 7R V, Alpha 7 IV, FX3 and others on its compatibility chart. Lighter primes give the longest flight times.
Is the Airpeak S1 still supported by Sony?
Sony ended new aircraft sales in March 2025. Sony has said inspection, repair and Airpeak software maintenance continue until March 31, 2030. This unit is new stock from Maverick.
How long does it fly?
Up to 30 minutes with no payload and about 22 minutes with a typical camera payload. Heavier setups and wind shorten that.
Does it need a phone or tablet?
Yes. Airpeak Flight runs on iPhone or iPad, mounted on the RCR-VH1 controller. Airpeak Base handles flight planning and logs on the web.
Do I need a Part 107 certificate?
Yes, for any commercial flight in the US. The S1 weighs over 0.55 lb, so it also needs FAA registration and Remote ID compliance.
