The EchoLogger ECT D24S is a professional-grade dual-frequency echo sounder engineered for UAV-based hydrographic surveying in shallow ponds, lakes, and rivers — particularly environments with dense aquatic vegetation. Operating at 200 kHz and 450 kHz simultaneously, the ECT D24S delivers an optimal frequency combination for challenging shallow-water conditions: 200 kHz provides continuous bottom reflection, while 450 kHz covers ultra-shallow areas where lower frequencies fail due to dead zone limitations.
200 kHz & 450 kHz — Optimized for Shallow & Vegetated Waters
The ECT D24S's dual-frequency architecture is specifically selected for shallow water environments with heavy seaweed or aquatic vegetation. At 200 kHz (10° beam, 0.5–200m range), the sensor delivers continuous bottom reflection through vegetation. At 450 kHz (5° beam, 0.15–100m range), the narrow high-frequency beam covers ultra-shallow areas as close as 15cm — eliminating the dead zone that renders lower-frequency sensors ineffective in the shallowest survey conditions.
Integrated Tilt & Temperature Sensors
Built-in tilt and temperature sensors ensure measurement accuracy and data quality throughout the survey flight. Tilt compensation accounts for aircraft attitude variations during dynamic UAV operations, while temperature data supports sound velocity correction for precise depth calculations in varying water conditions.
SkyHub RS232 Integration
The ECT D24S connects directly to the SkyHub onboard computer via RS232 interface and connector, enabling seamless data acquisition, GNSS timestamping, and integration with positioning data for fully georeferenced bathymetric datasets. The 2.5m cable is protected by a plastic sleeve that also supports the echo sounder and housing weight during flight.
