Ground Truth Oversized T-Shirt

The back of this tee is real ground. We pulled USGS lidar for a 5 x 6 km patch around Maverick HQ and drew it as a wireframe, looking east down the Minnesota River valley. Heights are stretched 16x so the bluffs read. HQ sits at 718 ft and the high point on the print is 1,019 ft. A survey grid flies out from HQ, the way a mapping mission would.

On the front, the Maverick mark is drawn from the contour lines of that same ground, with HQ’s coordinates underneath.

Ground truth is what survey crews call the measurements taken on the ground that keep aerial data honest.
