The Laser Falcon 2 is a UAV-mounted methane detection payload by Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions, using Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy at 1.65 μm to detect methane exclusively — eliminating false readings from other gases entirely. A Class 3R eye-safe laser calculates gas concentration in ppm×m and transmits results instantly to the drone pilot's remote control and UgCS software for real-time aerial survey monitoring. Designed for pipeline inspection, oil and gas infrastructure survey, and environmental emissions monitoring. Additional components required for drone integration — contact Maverick for a complete quote.

Methane-Only. Infrared Spectroscopy. ppm×m Output. Real-Time RC & UgCS.
The Laser Falcon 2 is built around a single detection principle: Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy at 1.65 μm, sensitive exclusively to methane. The Class 3R eye-safe laser emits light along the detection path, reflects it back to the sensor, and compares outgoing and incoming signals against a built-in reference cell — if methane is present, the absorbed signal is detected and concentration is calculated in ppm×m. Because the system is sensitive only to methane, false readings from other gases are physically impossible — delivering reliable, actionable detection data without noise from non-target compounds. Results are transmitted instantly to the drone pilot's RC and to UgCS for real-time monitoring and data logging during aerial survey missions.

Methane-Only Detection. Zero False Readings. Physically Impossible. The Laser Falcon 2's infrared absorption spectroscopy approach at 1.65 μm is sensitive exclusively to methane — not to other gases, vapors, or compounds present in the environment. False readings from non-target gases are not a calibration issue to manage; they are physically impossible. For pipeline inspection and gas infrastructure survey, this means every detection event is a real methane event.

ppm×m Output. Built-In Reference Cell. Quantitative Leak Characterization. Gas concentration is calculated and output in parts per million multiplied by meter (ppm×m) — providing a quantitative measure of methane presence along the laser path for precise leak characterization and reporting. The built-in reference cell ensures measurement accuracy without requiring external calibration references in the field.

Class 3R Eye-Safe. Real-Time RC & UgCS Integration. The 1.65 μm laser is Class 3R eye-safe, enabling safe field operation without specialized laser safety protocols for ground personnel. Detection values are transmitted instantly to the drone pilot's remote control and to UgCS flight planning and control software for real-time monitoring, data logging, and mission management during aerial methane surveys.

Methane-Only Detection. Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy. Class 3R Eye-Safe Laser. UgCS Ready.

The Laser Falcon 2 is a UAV-mounted methane detection payload by Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions, engineered for aerial gas leak detection and pipeline inspection. Using Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy at a 1.65 μm spectral range, the Laser Falcon 2 is sensitive exclusively to methane — eliminating false readings from other gases entirely. A Class 3R eye-safe laser emits and captures reflected light, comparing outgoing and incoming signals against a built-in reference cell to calculate gas concentration in ppm×m. Results are transmitted instantly to the drone pilot's remote control and to UgCS flight planning software for real-time situational awareness during aerial survey missions.

Key Features

  • Methane-Only Detection — Zero False Readings — The Laser Falcon 2 is sensitive exclusively to methane, making it immune to false readings from other gases present in the environment — delivering reliable, actionable detection data without noise from non-target compounds.
  • Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy — 1.65 μm — The laser emits light at 1.65 μm, which reflects back to the sensor. Outgoing and incoming signals are compared against a built-in reference cell — if methane is present along the laser path, the absorbed signal is detected and concentration is calculated.
  • ppm×m Concentration Output — Gas concentration is calculated and output in parts per million multiplied by meter (ppm×m) — providing a quantitative measure of methane presence along the laser path for precise leak characterization.
  • Class 3R Eye-Safe Laser — The 1.65 μm laser is classified as Class 3R eye-safe, enabling safe operation in field environments without requiring specialized laser safety protocols for ground personnel.
  • Real-Time RC & UgCS Integration — Detection values are transmitted instantly to the drone pilot's remote control and to UgCS drone flight planning and control software for real-time monitoring, data logging, and mission management during aerial surveys.
